Three-day Training Programme
on
“Post-harvest management practices, processing and value addition of local farm produce”

        A three-day training programme on “Post-harvest management practices, processing and value addition of local farm produce” was conducted during 25th to 27th March 2025 at Agro-processing unit of Agricultural Engineering, Division of System Research and Engineering, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, under the TSP project. The training programme was successfully organized and coordinated by Dr. Hijam Jiten Singh, Dr. Huidrom Dayananda Singh, Dr. Naseeb Singh, and Dr. H.D. Talang. The training featured participatory lectures on post-harvest handling and management of important crops in Meghalaya like ginger, turmeric, etc.. Live demonstration on operation & maintenance of Improved agro-processing equipment like root crop washer, boiler, slicer, dryers, grinders and banana fibre extraction machine. Moreover, hands on training on preparation of value-added products like fruit juices, jams, pickles, sauces, cake, snacks from local farm produces. Additionally, a farmer-scientist interaction session provided a platform for insightful discussions and knowledge exchange. A total of 30 farmers from Bamkamar village, Thadlaskein village and Lumkya village from Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya have actively participated in the training programme.
